How we got here
The through-line is Oracle. Dave Herrington was one of Oracle Corporation's original 12 Oracle Applications consultants — among the people who launched its applications business — and went on to found and lead DARC Corporation for nearly two decades, North America's go-to Oracle E-Business Suite implementation partner.
Then the data got bigger than one machine. RhinoSource was founded in 2012 as an Oracle and DataStax partner, and the DataStax years became the firm's signature: the consultancy DataStax brings in when a Cassandra cluster has to perform under real pressure — peak holiday load at eBay, statewide reporting at the California DOJ, mail tracking for the U.S. Postal Service.
Today the frontier has moved again, to Snowflake data lakes and the generative and agentic AI built on top of them. The work is the same work it always was: make the data trustworthy, make the platform hold, and make it keep holding when the load arrives.

Dave is a data and AI systems architect who helps enterprises design, build and optimize the high-performance platforms behind their most demanding applications — hundreds of engagements across three decades, for Fortune 500 leaders and some of Silicon Valley's most recognizable companies.
Clients bring him in when the stakes are highest: web-scale data, strict SLAs, zero-downtime migrations, and systems that simply cannot fail.
Before RhinoSource he was CIO at Parelli Natural Horsemanship, moving its membership training business to AWS, and founder, chairman and CEO of DARC Corporation, the go-to Oracle Certified E-Business Suite implementation partner. He has been a founder, officer and board member of several Oracle user community groups, including the global Oracle Applications Users Group.
He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a graduate degree in entrepreneurship and business administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is also co-founder of Chase Cellars, an award-winning Napa Valley winery in St. Helena.
